TODO, NVC ink MOA for SHS Immersion Program

Todo Media Services and Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC) ink memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Wednesday to formalize their partnership and to kickstart the Immersion program for the Senior High School (SHS) students.

In addition, the representatives of NVC and its industry partners convened at NVC RSQ Building to discuss the guidelines in the implementation of the program.

Under the signed MOA, NVC can deploy its SHS students to the different departments of Todo Media Services such as the Reportorial and Production department.  Correspondingly, TODO Media will provide them with training related to their course.

Dr. Rebecca Tandug – Barrios, NVC’s VP for Academic Affairs, emphasized in her speech the importance of the program.  

“This program will help students have a sense of experience. This way, prior to deciding what course to take in college they have an idea what they really like,” Barrios stressed. 

She also remarked that students who underwent the program were transformed and had metamorphosized.

An eye out for the future Mass Media practitioners

Radyo TODO CEO and General Manager Jonathan Cabrera expressed his eagerness to be a part of this program.

“This is what we really want. We want to be a part of molding our young generation,” he enthused.

Cabrera added that TODO Media wants to educate the students on the “need to have media and journalists in society”.

Moreover, he is hopeful that as a result of the immersion in Radyo Todo, students will take up a career in Mass Media. “We are looking forward that the next defenders of truth and public servants will arise from this batch,” he added.

Exposing students to “real workplace” experience

As part of the SHS curriculum and as a requirement for graduation, students have to undergo 80 hours of training. In addition, students should be trained in an organization or establishment with work requirements related to their specialization.

As a result of the collaborative functions of industry partners and stakeholders, students will experience actual work as a simulation of employment. 

Also, they can apply the required competencies and work ethics needed for possible further education. Furthermore, they can make more informed career choices and improve their employment opportunities.
