Inaasahang tataas ang presyo ng tinapay at iba pang baked goods – Salceda

Kailangang maghanda ang mga consumers sa inaasahang pag-taas sa presyo ng tinapay, ayon kay Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda.

Sinabi ni Salceda na ang susunod na basic goods na magkakaroon ng pag-taas na presyo ay ang mga tinapay at iba pang baked goods.

Ito’y dahil inaasahan na pagdating ng Mayo, magkakaroon ng shortage sa supply ng wheat dahil sa patuloy na nangyayaring giyera sa pagitan ng Russia at Ukraine.

“We should still see to it that we have adequate buffers of wheat, as that will be the next commodity that will see significant price increases due to this global situation,” sinabi ng House Committee on Ways and Means chairman at resident economist ng Lower Chamber.

Batay kay Salcedo ang Russia at Ukraine ay parehong major wheat producers.

“I am talking with some departments on the matter. I think the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is promoting wheat substitutes,” pahayag ni Salceda batay sa ulat ng Manila Bulletin.

“On my end, I am strongly recommending fortifying our bread with other vitamins and minerals, so that, at least, if the ordinary consumer buys more expensive bread, they are also getting more by way of nutrition,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi niya rin na sigurado siya na ang susunod na administrasyon ang mag-iinherit ng sitwasyon.

“So, food prices should always be part of the national conversation this election season.”

Dahil sa giyera sa pagitan ng Russia at Ukraine, naapektuhan nito ang presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo, kung saan tumaas ang halaga ng gasolina at diesel hanggang P60.00 kada litro
