3 Cabinet designates invited to address Local Press Assembly 2022 on June 24
Three Cabinet member-designates named by presumptive President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. have been invited to address the nationwide Local Press Assembly 2022 on June 24, 2022, to be held at PEZA Auditorium, Double Dragon Bldg., on Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City.
Asked to address the community media occasion are incoming executive secretary-designate Vic Rodriguez; press secretary-designate Trixie Cruz-Angeles; and Susan ‘Tots’ Ople, secretary-designate of the new Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
Also invited to grace and speak during the whole-day media assembly are Director General Charito “Ching” B. Plaza of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA); and Dr. Cesar Chavez, vice-president of Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC).
The invitees are expected to define the role of media in relation to each official’s tasks, particularly those in the countryside.
Director-General Plaza is anticipated to highlight her success in administering PEZA, while Dr. Chavez, a veteran broadcast journalist, is expected to spell out the role of local media practitioners and redefine the way media pursue its critical role as a social catalyst.
Veteran journalist Johnny Dayang spearheads the assembly’s convenors group while Nelson S. Santos, president of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI); Rey Langit, chairman of Boracay Global Press Corps, Inc. (BGPCI); Roy Mabasa, former president National Press Club (NPC); Roy Bato, chapter president of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkasters sa Pilipinas (KBP) Calabarzon Region; Allan S. Sison, president of the Federation of Provincial Press Clubs, (FPPCP); Antonio V. Figueroa, founding consultant of the Institute of Davao Studies (IDS), columnist of Edge Davao, and former Mindanao bureau chief of Philippine Graphic; Joseph Punay, FPPCP vice president; Jonathan Cabrera, CEO of Todo Media; and Johnny Nuñez, practicing journalist; as co-convenors.
The media assembly Secretariat located at Unit 708, Cityland 8, Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City is headed by Noel Cabobos, an event organizer, investigative journalist and social activist.
