NCR nakakaranas na ng “serious surge,” community transmission ng Delta variant, possible – OCTA

Mayroong “serious surge” na ang Metro Manila, ayon sa OCTA research group, nagbabala rin sila na maari ang Delta variant ang dahilan ng pag-taas ng mga kaso.

Nitong Sabado, may naitalang 1,740 bagong kaso ang National Capital Region, ito ang pinaka-mataas na bilang simula noong Mayo 10, nang nasa ilalim pa ng modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) ang Metro Manila.

Ang seven-day average ng bagong infections ay tumalon rin at umabot hanggang 1,279, tumaas ito ng 40% mula nakaraang linggo.

“The rapid growth rate suggests the possibility of community transmission of the Delta variant in the NCR,” sinabi ng OCTA sa isang ulat na inilabas kahapon.

The Department of Health reported last week that the country had detected a total of 216 Delta variant cases, including eight deaths.

Sa isang briefing nitong Sabado, ayon kay Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire na ang bagong variant ay “part of those factors that we are now considering when it comes to the increasing number of cases.”

Dagdag pa niya na dapat may sapat na ebidensiya muna bago magkumpirma na may community transmission na ang Delta variant.

According to OCTA, the capital region’s reproduction number increased to 1.52 from 1.29 the previous week.

Samantala, nabanggit ng OCTA na tumaas ang hospital bed at ICU occupancy rates, ito’y umaakyat hanggang 45% at 52%, ayon sa pagkakabanggit.

“At the current rate, if there are no changes in quarantine restrictions in the NCR, hospital beds would reach 70% occupancy in less than five weeks, while ICU beds will reach 70% occupancy in less than three weeks,” saad nila.

Batay sa OCTA na may 13 na lugar sa rehiyon ang kinokonsiderang high-risk na, ang mga lugar na iyon ay:

• Pateros
• Makati
• San Juan
• Malabon
• Navotas
• Las Piñas
• Pasig
• Muntinlupa
• Valenzuela
• Parañaque
• Quezon City
• Marikina
• Caloocan

Mas pahihigpitin ang restriksyon simula Agosto 6 hanggang 20 sapagkat ilalagay ng pandemic task force ang capital region sa ilalim ng enhanced community quarantine.
